As interior designers, we have spent countless hours building templates and blocks in order to develop our resource library that would allow us to work efficiently and quickly. More often than not, we found it difficult to find the proper information to help us accomplish this. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of resources currently available online, however it is like a jigsaw puzzle putting bits and pieces together to try and find a solution. At times you are hitting a dead end. Some dynamic blocks are available online, but there are few of them, and the ones that are available do not work to their potential. While creating a library seemed never-ending and frustrating at times, we thought to ourselves “at least once it is done we will be set!”
Through the many years of using AutoCAD we have learned new tricks and functions, and come to realize by working along other fellow AutoCAD users, that there seem to be common struggles. Struggles such as glitches and limitations, time consuming process, repetitive steps, and constant time spent on setup. Dealing with the nitty-gritty technical components can be frustrating and time consuming with AutoCAD, and a lot of the time it may not seem worthwhile to go through the trouble.
There was no way we could accept these common struggles as the norm and move on. Something needed to change in order to make the lives of AutoCAD users everywhere more efficient. This efficiency will allow for growth, ability to handle more projects, in turn saving time and making more profit.
That’s when it hit us! Our Aha! moment.
We decided to put together resources and information not only to cut work time significantly, but to also create a standard so anyone can pick up where the last person left off. In fact if we had these resources available to us from the beginning perhaps we would have saved us some “autosnap” scenarios.
Let us introduce to you Udesign, an online resource center for AutoCAD users.
Stay tuned to hear the full story of the creation of Udesign.
