The Creation of Udesign

Regardless of what profession you are in, there is one thing we all have in common. We look for ways to be more proficient and save time. We’ve started using AutoCAD in design school and continue to do so as industry professionals. We soon came to realize that the resources available just didn’t do the trick and we began to develop our own resources that we wanted to share with our fellow colleagues. As a result we have developed Udesign, an online resource center for AutoCAD users.

Why?

In all honesty we realized the amount of time and energy it took to develop these resources, and as designers or architects we don’t generally have the time to develop these resources while dealing with project deadlines. For this reason Udesign was created to bring these resource to you, something readily available and easy to use in order to cut work time significantly, but also create a standard for your company.

What is it?

Simply put, Udesign is an online resource center for AutoCAD users. We were inspired to put together a series of packages that are available for those looking to build upon their resource library, or are just starting out and need the basics. These resources consist of two main components; templates and dynamic blocks. The templates are developed to easily set up your AutoCAD through lineweights, layers and plotting in order to create a standard, as well as have the program ready to go every time you start a new project. The Dynamic Blocks take your standard blocks to another level. These flexible and intelligent blocks contain rules or parameters that allow them to change shape, size or configuration when inserted into the drawing. Instead of using multiple blocks throughout the drawing, you can use one dynamic block and change it as required. Alongside these great resources, Udesign is there to share new tips and tricks through our blogs, videos and Facebook group AutoCAD Tips & Tricks.

All the hard technical work is done, saving you hours on design time and eliminating the time lost for preparation. The dynamic blocks allow for quick changes, and we know very well there are always changes. It definitely beats having to redraw or explode blocks!
